Iron County is located in far northern Wisconsin bordering Lake Superior, Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Ashland, Vilas and Price Counties. The third largest County Forest in the State of Wisconsin, Iron County offers plenty of recreational opportunities from hunting and fishing, to ATVing and snowmobiling, to camping, hiking and cross country skiing. The Iron County Forestry Department is responsible for managing 174,317 acres of County Forest.

2017 Spring Timber Sale
Dear Iron County Forest Logger: April 26, 2017
The Iron County Forestry Committee will accept timber sale bids for sixteen (16) timber sale tracts until 8:30 A.M. on Thursday, June 1, 2017.
Sealed bids received by that time and date will be publicly opened at 9:00 A.M. on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at the Iron County Forestry Office Conference Room, and will be reviewed. Contracts may be awarded to successful bidders after bids are opened.
Sale prospectus, maps and bid forms may be picked up beginning Thursday, April 27, 2017 at the Iron County Forestry Office, 607 3rd Avenue North – Suite 2, Hurley, WI 54534 phone: (715)561-2697, office hours Monday-Thursday 6:00 am-4:00 pm/Friday closed, at the Mercer DNR Ranger Station, can be accessed on our website at www.ironcountyforest.org or can be mailed to you upon request for a $3.00 fee.
Please review prospectus and maps closely. **NOTE** Contract requirements regarding bonds, down payments, extensions and insurance requirements for sub-contractors. Bid forms are included with each map.

SAXON HARBOR The west boat launch is open for small boats. The parking area is available for use to park and access the beach to the west.
The rest of Saxon Harbor is CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE due to the July 11, 2016 storm.
