Current Events


  • Iron County ATV Trails will open Friday, May 6, 2016.  Early Spring riding conditions exist with a few wet areas.  Please be respectful and stay within the marked trail bed.  Off trail riding will lead to trail closures.

  • CAMPGROUNDS:  Opening dates:
    • Lake of the Falls - May 5
    • Weber Lake - May 5
    • Saxon Harbor - May 12 
    • Schomberg Park - May 12

  • ​​​Beginning May 1, 2015 Firewood permits will cost $20 and be valid for 1 year from the date of purchase.​




Iron County is located in far northern Wisconsin bordering Lake Superior, Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Ashland, Vilas and Price Counties.  The third largest County Forest in the State of Wisconsin, Iron County offers plenty of recreational opportunities from hunting and fishing, to ATVing and snowmobiling, to camping, hiking and cross country skiing.  The Iron County Forestry Department is responsible for managing 174,317 acres of County Forest.
