Current Events

  • Iron County Snowmobile Trails are open. Iron County ATV Trails are open when the air temperature is below 32 degrees. Riders are reminded to be aware of open water and unsafe ice conditions exist.  Be respectful of closed trails and open fields.

  • CAMPGROUNDS:  Saxon Harbor, Lake of the Falls, Schomberg Park & Weber Lake are CLOSED for the season.

  • ​​​Beginning May 1, 2015 Firewood permits will cost $20 and be valid for 1 year from the date of purchase.​




Iron County is located in far northern Wisconsin bordering Lake Superior, Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Ashland, Vilas and Price Counties.  The third largest County Forest in the State of Wisconsin, Iron County offers plenty of recreational opportunities from hunting and fishing, to ATVing and snowmobiling, to camping, hiking and cross country skiing.  The Iron County Forestry Department is responsible for managing 174,317 acres of County Forest.
