Snowmobile & Winter ATV Trails will open on Thursday, December 8, 2011.
Please use caution on all trails and routes as conditions can change daily.
Remember, use of private land is a privilege, not a right, stay on the trail.

Iron County has 304 miles of state funded Snowmobile trails and 118 miles of funded ATV trails. Many more miles of club trails and routes are available for riding.
ATVs are allowed on ATV trails only in the winter as long as the air temperature is below 32 degrees.

Dirt/motor bikes are NOT permitted on Iron County trails.

TRAIL ACCESS:
Snowmobile trails are accessible from most lodging facilities in Iron County. A trailhead parking area is available right off of Hwy 77 - trail 17 in downtown Hurley.
ATV trails are also accessible from most lodging facilities in Iron County via routes and trails. A trailhead parking area is available right off of Hwy 77 - trail 17 in downtown Hurley and at Schomberg Park located on Hwy 51 between Hurley and Mercer. A loading ramp is available at Schomberg Park.
Camping: Schomberg Park - located between Hurley and Mercer on Hwy 51 in the center of the Iron Co ATV trail system. Easy access to trails 17, 13 and 8.
Weber Lake - located on Cty Hwy E in Iron Belt. Trail 6 is accessible via 1/4 mi route.
Saxon Harbor - located on Cty Hwy A in Saxon on Lake Superior. Route 3 (scenic gravel town road) is access to trail 2 from the Harbor.

Off Trail Riding: Boondocking on the Iron County Forest is allowed for Snowmobiles only. Boondocking rules are available HERE. The County Forest is highlighted on the snowmobile map.
ATVs MUST remain on marked trails and routes only. Off trail riding is strictly prohibited.
Trail Maintenance: The Iron County Forestry Department along with the White Thunder Riders from Hurley and the Mercer SnoGoers perform all the snowmobile trail maintenance including grooming.
ATV Trail Maintenance is performed by the Iron County ATV Association along with the Iron County Forestry Department.
