Iron County is located in far northern Wisconsin bordering Lake Superior, Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Ashland, Vilas and Price Counties. The third largest County Forest in the State of Wisconsin, Iron County offers plenty of recreational opportunities from hunting and fishing, to ATVing and snowmobiling, to camping, hiking and cross country skiing. The Iron County Forestry Department is responsible for managing 174,317 acres of County Forest.

Iron County ATV/UTV TRAILS are CLOSED. ATV trails will open on a trail by trail basis as conditions permit. If a road that is used as a route is closed to vehicle traffic during spring break up, it is also closed to ATV traffic. Full ATV trail opening expected by mid-May.
