Iron County is located in far northern Wisconsin bordering Lake Superior, Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Ashland, Vilas and Price Counties. The third largest County Forest in the State of Wisconsin, Iron County offers plenty of recreational opportunities from hunting and fishing, to ATVing and snowmobiling, to camping, hiking, and cross country skiing .

The Iron County Forestry Department is responsible for managing 174,317 acres of County Forest.
The Department also manages 118 miles of state funded ATV trails and 304 miles of state funded snowmobile trails throughout Iron County.
Also under jurisdiction of the Forestry & Parks Department is Saxon Harbor Marina and Campground, Weber Lake Campground, Schomberg Park Campground, Lake of the Falls Campground, Potato River Falls and Shay’s Mill Dam Park.
Cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and hiking opportunities located on the County Forest are found at the MECCA trails in Mercer and Uller Trails in Pence/Iron Belt area and Schomberg Park.

Winter ATV Trails are open as conditions permit.
