Iron County is located in far northern Wisconsin bordering Lake Superior, Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Ashland, Vilas and Price Counties. The third largest County Forest in the State of Wisconsin, Iron County offers plenty of recreational opportunities from hunting and fishing, to ATVing and snowmobiling, to camping, hiking and cross country skiing. The Iron County Forestry Department is responsible for managing 174,317 acres of County Forest.

SAXON HARBOR The west boat launch is open for small boats and kayaks. The north parking area is available for parking and access the beach to the west. Restrooms in the pavilion are now CLOSED for the season.
The rest of Saxon Harbor is CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE due to the July 11, 2016 storm.
