 Trail Update:

ATV/UTV trails are OPEN when air temperature is below 32 degrees.

Snowmobile Trails are about 50% open. 

See below snow report for most current conditions.

Early season snowmobile trail conditions exist.  More snow and cold weather is needed to make trails excellent.  Use caution and travel over water is not recommended at this time.


SAXON HARBOR is CLOSED for construction until further notice.



Iron County is located in far northern Wisconsin bordering Lake Superior, Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Ashland, Vilas and Price Counties.  The third largest County Forest in the State of Wisconsin, Iron County offers plenty of recreational opportunities from hunting and fishing, to ATVing and snowmobiling, to camping, hiking and cross country skiing.  The Iron County Forestry Department is responsible for managing 174,317 acres of County Forest.
