Iron County is located in far northern Wisconsin bordering Lake Superior, Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Ashland, Vilas and Price Counties.  The fourth largest County Forest in the State of Wisconsin, Iron County offers plenty of recreational opportunities from hunting and fishing, to ATVing and snowmobiling, to camping, hiking and cross country skiing.  The Iron County Forestry Department is responsible for managing 175,305 acres of County Forest.


NEW IRON COUNTY CAMPGROUND FIREWOOD RULE:

Any firewood brought into an Iron County Campground must come from within 25 miles of the campground or a WI certified firewood dealer.

New snowmobile trailhead parking is available at the Schomberg Park Parking area just south of the Campground and Layman's Creek.  Overnight parking is allowed.
